Nest Hub Max Rumors: What We Know About Google’s New Smart Display

A new smart display from Google could be on its way. The company accidentally posted information about the Nest Home Max, a smart display with a 10-inch touchscreen and a Nest camera, on the Google Store page, and before it could be taken down, AndroidPolice was able to capture some screenshots.

What is the Nest Home Max?

According to the information posted, the Nest Home Max is a Google Assistant-powered 10-inch touchscreen display with stereo speakers and a Nest cam built in for making Duo calls. That's larger and more functional than the current Google Home Hub, which has a 7-inch display, but lacks a camera and only has a single speaker.

The name — Nest Home Max — shows that the company is combining its family of Nest cams with the Google Home Max smart speaker, and adding a display to the mix.

What does the Nest Home Max look like?

We're not sure yet, but we imagine that it will look similar to the Google Home Hub, which has an angled display supported by a fabric-covered base that houses the speakers.

What does the Nest Home Max cost?

Because the Nest Home Max has not been officially announced by Google, pricing (and availability) have not been released, but we will update this page if we hear additional information. The Google Home Hub is now just $99, but we expect the Max to cost more than that. Who knows? The company may announce it at Google I/O, which starts next Tuesday (May 7).

The Nest Home Max would compete directly with devices such as the Amazon Echo Show and the Facebook Portal; currently, only JBL and Lenovo make Google Assistant smart displays with cameras, so it makes sense for Google to come out with its own product. However, these devices appear to be tougher sells; the Facebook Portal, for instance, has seen its price cut in half since its release in January.
