The hottest new movie to launch onto cinema screens last week was undoubtedly Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.
Entwining two narratives during the days leading up to the infamous Manson murders - out-of-work actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), his stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), and actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) - the story is half-legend, half-fairytale.
The setting, old Hollywood, gets the same treatment, shot through a lens of warm nostalgia. But where the plot is convoluted (expect nothing less from Tarantino), the visuals are a love letter, pure and simple, to the most cinematic of American scenery.
